This critical leadership role in developing the micropropagation lab, and business, for the Company and its licensee(s) will include personnel management, quality management, compliance, safety, continuous improvement and business development. Initially this position will be responsible for planning and implementing the Company’s first micropropagation facility; developing a plan for both third party customers as well as ensuring sufficient inventory is produced for the Company’s initial facility in Riverside County, CA. Once the initial facility is established, the position will lead the expansion and implementation of multiple micropropagation labs in the Company’s facilities as it expands globally.
The incumbent will oversee the employment of a range of aseptic plant culture techniques including but not limited to media preparation, culture initiations, culture transfers for line maintenance, acclimating cultures to the greenhouse, plant growth and manipulation techniques, lab and clean room maintenance, SOP and protocol development/modifications and safety procedures. As leader of the lab team, the incumbent will work to support the tissue culture activities that impact the Company projects and production schedules; explore and recommend opportunities to develop third party commercial business; and will interact with other professional staff.
The position requires a “hands on” director, experienced in various forms of in vitro micropropagation and propagation techniques. The candidate should have excellent organizational skills, flexibility, and the ability to thrive in an efficient, highly interactive, goal-oriented commercial production environment, and be able to effectively supervise and manage team members on a daily basis.
