The Director Operations & Cultivation will be responsible for managing all aspects of commercial growing operations and overseeing all plant production for retail/wholesale sales. This position will oversee multiple functions across multiple sites in multiple jurisdictions and is responsible for the development and management of the growing staff and for the constant innovation and continuous improvement of the Company’s growing systems and practices.
Working across divisions and departments, this position will provide insights and experiences to fellow senior executives and management with a view to identifying factors and variables which may have a positive or negative impact on product quality and operational efficiencies. This position will seek to contribute to driving innovation and improvements to the Company’s IP monitoring the latest trends and practices in horticulture and agronomy which may improve overall operational performance and lead to IP development.
A university degree or college diploma in Business Administration and or Agriculture couple with 10 years minimum in operations and production with at least five years in horticulture or related field at a senior management level with knowledge of facilities, equipment, operations and management. Prior experience in a hydroponic cultivation and production environment is essential. Knowledge and experience in automated growing systems and methods, including in-depth knowledge of PH; PPM and EC counts; mastery of micronutrients, beneficial bacteria, and nutrient implementation; knowledge in temperature and humidity criteria and optimization; expert knowledge of plant diseases, insects, and fungi, as well as plant treatment options are all necessary to this role. This position requires a keen attention to detail and extensive knowledge of various strains and plant genetics to be able to track and catalog plants from the micropropagation stage to harvesting. As a manager the position requires leadership, organizational and communication skills for activities including training and scheduling and workflow management and the ability to manage multiple, complex priorities within demanding timeframes.
