Local Is Important

It has been a long, tough haul over the past months. Like many companies, elements of the work we are doing have been slowed down. It’s all still moving forward, just not as fast as before the pandemic hit. However, I do think that is about to change and we will be back on a much quicker track shortly.

The AgriFORCE team is continuing the development of our first facility in Southern California to meet our targets in the areas of medical-grade pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals and hydroponics. We are also expanding our focus as a result of in-depth discussions and research that came about as we watched the global pandemic unfold. This expansion multiplies our opportunities and, we believe, the value of our proprietary facility design and automated growing system as we move forward. We believe that we can make huge, positive change in the world in relation to food security. We’ve made a corporate decision to address this as we build our Southern California facility.

The COVID-19 pandemic made it clear that, on a global level, we need to rethink our food supply chain so that we can “go local” rather than rely on food producers thousands of miles away, across borders and oceans. We need to shift into a mindset where the baseline, wherever possible, is that food is grown locally. We have to understand the effects of climate change and extreme weather (as we work to reduce agriculture’s environmental impact) on current growing environments. We must change how food is supplied at a local level on a global scale. At AgriFORCE, we are now working to address this and are helping to develop a food supply chain that works, even during the most challenging times – like a global pandemic.

Stay tuned. This change is exciting.

Ingo Mueller, CEO of AgriFORCE Growing Systems, is currently working from his home office in West Vancouver, British Columbia. He continues to connect with the AgriFORCE team, strategic partners and others around the world – whether that is California, New York or several other states where AgriFORCE has business interests. He is also in constant contact with our partners in Europe, as we raise the flag there for AgriFORCE and the company’s unique (and proprietary) facility design and automated growing system.

The Notes from the CEO happen when Ingo gets a bit of time to share his perspective on the world of AgTech, the AgriFORCE team, work/life balance, and his vision for creating positive change in the world.
